Giving Every Tuesday: Golfing for Good

Calvin Gebhart has long been a member of the Powell Chamber of Commerce, but since 2018, Calvin has served on the Chamber’s Committee for the Bill Shantz Memorial Golf Outing, a fundraising event named in memory of Bill Shantz who died from Melanoma in 2020. Bill was an active member of the Powell chamber who served as a board member and had a role in numerous committees. Since 2020, the Chamber has partnered with a Melanoma Cancer Research organization, and they’ve donated a portion of the proceeds to cancer research.

This program has grown to be one of the largest fundraisers that the Chamber conducts. In 2023, the Chamber partnered with OSU James Cancer Hospital Research to donate on behalf of Bill Shantz Memorial. To date, over $7,000 has been raised for melanoma research. Calvin is honored to be involved with the program and honored to serve the community of Powell.
